Kathmandu: Nepali 10-member Nepali taekwondo team including six players will leave for Lomel, Belgium on Thursday to participate in the Belgian Open G-2 Taekwondo Championship.
Dhan Bahadur Darai will compete in the under 80 kg category, Dipendra Bahadur Nepali in the 74 kg category, Shishir Shrestha and Bir Bahadur Mahara in the 68 kg category, Abbas Khan in the 63 kg category and Mohammad Umar Khan in the 54 kg category.
Two players are the 13th Green Medal winners. In green, Bir Bahadur won gold and Shishir won bronze.
Gopal Shrestha is the head of the team, Kwan Yong Dal and Roshan Khan are the coaches and Shailesh Shrestha is the manager. Gyorogi’s second class judges Ashok Khadka and Rabindra Malla and Dipendra Dhakal will be the judges in the competition.
Kabaddi go to Bangladesh
Similarly, a 15-member Nepali team including 10 players will leave for Dhaka, Bangladesh on Thursday to participate in the Bangabandhu Cup International Kabaddi Tournament.
Players Kalyan Bhujel, Praveen Khadka, Nageshwar Tharu, Ranjit Gajmer, Ramu Tomata, Ajay Manandhar, Pradip Mijar, Kumar Lama, Bandhu Rana and Lal Mohan Yadav will compete in the tournament from March 16 to 25.
Parvati Rai is the coach, Prakash Prasad Shah and Arvind Kumar Jha are the officials, manager Ram Kewal Mukhiya and judge Binod Prajapati.
The team was bade farewell by National Sports Council Vice President Shiva Koirala and All Nepal Kabaddi Association President Tulasi Thapa.
