Deepak gets a historic Gold for in Asian Cross Country

Kathmandu: Deepak Adhikari has won a historic gold in the 16th Asian Cross Country.

He won gold in the senior men’s 10 km championship held at Gokarna Forest. Nepal has won gold in cross country for the first time.

He, the bronze medalist of the 13th South Asian Games and the gold medalist of the ninth National Games, completed the race in 33 minutes 52.070 seconds and won the gold medal.

Similarly, Japan’s Daichi Kamino finished the race in 33 minutes 52.085 and got the silver medal. Nepal’s Mukesh Bahadur Pal finished the race in 34 minutes 32.635 seconds and won the bronze medal.

Nepal also won gold in the senior men’s team event. Along with Deepak, Mukesh, Deepak Suhang won the gold in the team for Nepal. Iran won silver and India won bronze in this event.

In the championship, Nepal won the silver in the senior women’s 10m behind Nepal’s Rajpura Pachhai. Nepal also won silver for women’s senior team.

Apart from this, Nepal has won two silver medals in junior women and one bronze medal in junior men.
