National football team announced to play against Singapore and Malaysia
Kathmandu: The Nepali national football team has been announced for the friendly match against Singapore and the match against Malaysia as part of the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers. Head coach Matt Ross announced the final 23 members squad on Monday.
Nepal will play a friendly match against Singapore on March 21. Then, on March 25, they will play the first match of the final round of Asian Cup qualifiers against Malaysia at the same venue.
Nepal is set to play an international match for the first time since Matt Ross took over as coach. Three new faces have made it to the first squad he announced.
These include goalkeeper Anjal Shrestha, defender Suman Shrestha and forward Subash Bam Thakuri. Subash is training for the national team for the first time and he managed to make it to the final squad on his first try.
Anant Tamang and Laken Limbu, who were absent from the team due to injuries in the matches against Tajikistan and Afghanistan last October, have returned to the team. Similarly, Kritish Ratna Chunju and Rejin Subba have also returned to the team.
Coach Ross announced the final team from 27 players who were in the second phase of training. Goalkeeper Vishal Sunar, midfielder Dinesh Henjan, and forward duo Nirajan Dhami and Srijan Raj Gautam did not make it to the final team.
