Kathmandu: Home team India won the SAFF U-20 Championship football title.
India won the title by defeating Bangladesh 5-2 in extra time in the final at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
In the second minute of the game, Gurkirat Singh scored a penalty to give India the lead. However, in the 45th minute, Mohammad Rosen of Bangladesh scored a goal to tie the game 1-1.
In the 48th minute, Shahim Mia scored a goal to give Bangladesh a 2-1 lead. In the 60th minute, Gurkirat scored his second personal goal to tie the game 2-2.
After that, there were no more goals in the scheduled 90 minutes of the game and the game went to extra time.
In the 92nd minute of the game, Himansu Jangra scored a goal to give India a 3-2 lead. In the 93rd minute, Gurkirat completed his hat-trick and India took a 4-2 lead.
Then the 99th Gurkirat scored his personal fourth goal to give India a 5-2 victory.
With this victory, India avenged the defeat in the league stage. Bangladesh defeated India 2-1 in the league stage.
