Nepal defeated host Maldives 1-0 in SAFF Championship

Kathmandu: Nepal has made a victorious start in the SAAF Football Championship. Nepal got off to a good start by defeating Maldives 1-0 in the match played in Maldives last night.

Manish Dangi scored the decisive goal to give victory to Nepal. With this victory, Nepal has added 3 important points in the first game. Maldives, on the other hand, started the tournament with a loss. Nepal has also avenged the defeat against Maldives in 2018.

Nepal had lost 3-0 in the semi-final of that edition held in Dhaka. Nepal has defeated Maldives after 22 years.

In another match Bangladesh have beaten Sri Lanka by 1-0.

Topu Verman scored the decisive goal for Bangladesh from the penalty spot in the 56th minute.

Bangladesh had a chance to take a penalty kick after Ducson Pulsal handled the ball in the penalty area.

After handling the ball, Ducson was given a red card and was included in Sri Lanka’s 10 players.
Bangladesh has added three points after winning the single round robin competition.
