Kathmandu – Nepal has won the fourth match in a row in the ICC Under-19 World Cup Asia Region Qualifiers. In the match held in the UAE on Tuesday, Nepal won their fourth consecutive victory by defeating Malaysia.
Nepal met the normal target of 73 runs given by Malaysia without losing any wicket in 9 overs. Deepak Baehra scored 38 runs and Arjun Kumal scored 21 runs for Nepal.
Earlier, Malaysia, who won the toss and batted, got out after scoring 72 runs in 35 overs. Muhammad Malek scored the highest 26 runs for Malaysia. On the bowling side, Nepal’s Dipesh Kandel took 4 wickets by giving away 11 runs in 10 overs. Akash Chand took 3 wickets, Milan Baehra took 2 wickets and Subhas Bhandari took 1 wicket.
Nepal defeated Singapore by 96 runs in the first match, Kuwait by a wide margin of 243 runs in the second match and Hong Kong by 9 wickets in the third match. With this win, Nepal is at the top of the table with 8 points in 4 games.
Now Nepal will play against home team UAE on Thursday. If they beat UAE, Nepal will be the group winner and will be selected for the World Cup. The U-19 World Cup will be held in Sri Lanka next year. 6 teams from Singapore, Kuwait, Hong Kong, Malaysia and host UAE are participating in this competition.
